Its a raunchy, quirky and filled with crazy characters. Harper actually covers that scene in the blurb, so I was very happy I skipped the spoiler. Has my curmudgeonly mask become my face? A Trove of Black Humour and Absurdity Virtually all of the characters in this vhristopher go through trials and tribulations of their own, and while realistically-speaking some of them wouldn’t make for a laughing matter, Moore manages to twist it into the realms of comedy.
I just read a hilarious novel about a sea monster that crawled up onshore, turned itself into the shape of a mobile home in a trailer park. Which brings me to the synopsis. I listened to the audibook and the narrator did a fantastic job, he really made the story come alive.

The humor is completely bizarre, wacky, and surreal–which is Moore’s hallmark. I think there was always some scrawny dreamer sitting melanchoy the edge of the firelight, who had the ability to imagine dangers, to look into the future in his imagination and see possibilities, and therefore survived to pass his genes on to the next generation.
It’s a deeply-humorous book that offers a drastically different experience from virtually all the other novels out there, and if that’s the kind of insanity which moote you, then I have to wholeheartedly recommend this book for you. The absurd and hilarious doesn’t present itself much before 70 to 80 pages in, but to his credit, he is developing characters during that time.
