It’s almost like a porn movie, you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Nancy befriends Judi and Judi helps Nancy hide her secrets that keep her skinny. Though it is an ordinary, enjoyable read, I gave it the rating it did because of how well the author captures the confusion of middle school. Thanks for telling us about the problem. It’s Nancy who ends up in the hospital. It was a quick read, but I didn’t find it as amazing as my friend did who leant it to me. So maybe other people wouldn’t give this five stars, but really, it’s one of my favorite books of all time. Another eating disorders title. Jul 16, Sally Kruger added it. I do not dislike anything about this book I enjoy it rat much and it is one of my favorite books to read.

I re-read the book again. BUT, I like the dairy format and first person perspective of the book. Roth, the new English teacher, requires each student to keep a diary, Judi uses the assignment to pour out her feelings as she records her attempts at weight loss and relationship difficulties.

I’m not going to lie, I don’t remember the quality of the writing or character develop, but over ten years after I read it I remember it’s impact on me, so I think that says something. Does this impact Judi forever or does she find a way out. Its one of those novels that will have an everlasting impression on you.

Instead, she is shown as flirting with one. I can relate to the story and I enjoyed it. What I liked about this one is that 8th grader Judi, the main character, is not the one who ends up in a hospital with a full-blown eating disorder. I remember crying for the character and crying for me. The book really open my eyes and how I learn what was a eating disorder. What exactly WAS the girl doing in there, and fur This really delves into what every girl thinks about at least once in her life.

This book was a very touching book about a girl who wanted to be the thinniest girl in her grade and she would do anything to achieve that goal but her forcing herself to throw up after she ate might not have been a good choice. She’s convinced that if only she had “creamy thighs and amazing cheekbones that look lesleaa I’m always sipping through a straw” her best friend Monica wouldn’t have stolen the boy she had a crush on.
